Update 6/12/11

So the whole idea behind this blog was to get some of the things I have been working on out there. Like I said, there are a group of us that crop about once a month, and we do a challenge with each other, usually as a way to use up some of our leftover supplies. Lately, I have been trying some different paper crafts, so that I don't get tired of scrapbooking. Here is a basket that I made, using cardstock, some mini brads and some ribbon. It came out pretty cute for my first try, I was happy with the results.

My sister tends to be the subject of a lot of my work. I have done a couple of things for her lately. This is a favorite picture of her when she was young, visiting Santa.

Here is a mirror, with pictures of her from very young, to present and when she looks in the mirror, she gets an up to the minute picture of herself.

And, here is a small scrapbook I made to keep for myself with some of my favorite pictures of her.

Finally, here is the Birthday card I created for our card swap for the next crop in July. We will each make 5 cards and will come away with a variety of cards made by everyone in the group. I am really excited to see what everyone comes up with. The front left flap says "On your birthday" in gold, so it didn't photograph very well.

Hope I have sparked some inspiration in those of you who have taken the time to take a peek. Leave a comment if you wish.

Until next time, happy crafting :-)

Getting Started

Hi...
I have been crafting and creating for most of my life, thanks mostly to the inspiration and encouragement of my loving family. Mom did many crafty things while we were growing up and so I guess I just naturally gravitated to it.

As an Art Major in college, I was exposed to many types of art that I had not really concentrated on before, and like most, I tend to get bored

doing just one thing, so you may see random posts of projects and creations other than scrapbooking and paper crafting which will be the focus of this blog.

I have been scrapbooking for many years before realizing what I was doing. Obviously, now with all of the materials around, I have gone a bit crazy. Since I do not have children, my pictures are more scenic and nature in context, and overall I just hope you enjoy what you see and if I can inspire you in any way, what a bonus.

Oh, and as for the title of my blog... Emblemishments is what my dearly beloved husband calls embellishments!!! He is a great supporter of my creative endeavors and often has a hand in my final products.

So Enjoy fellow crafters, leave comments when you feel so inclined and share ideas!!!

My Mother-In-Law is one of my biggest fans, she lives in Trinidad, WI and loves getting cards from the US. She has a display of all the cards I have sent her in the living room!

She drinks tea often and one of the things I told her before we met, was that when I got to Trinidad, we would share a cup of tea. So that was the inspiration behind this card.

This is a card I created for a Scrapbooks Express "Ad" Challenge.

Happy crafting!
